WHAT YOU’VE MISSED

Hello! We are a group of university students creating a game called CROW GET IT! We are currently in semester two of producing our game and have been working on it for sixteen weeks. The team is comprised of 4 people: Emily, Jacinta, Shiona and Zac. In the first semester we distributed different roles to keep the team on track and keep each other responsible for the work we needed to achieve. Last semester we worked on establishing the 3 pillars or our game to create a “vertical slice” that would best show what our game was about by the end of the semester. Early on we also created a persona to guide our game build towards our target audience.

 What is CROW GET IT

Crow Get It is a feel-good cosy game similar to games such as Stardew valley and animal crossing. It focuses on relaxing gameplay with fetch quests designed to lead the player into different areas in the game. You get to play as a small flightless crow who explores the forest to find the forest folk and help them with their troubles.

The initial vision of Crow Get It has grown and changed as time has passed but the core of the game has stayed the same, give the player a fun and relaxing experience to come back to after a long day of work or escape the world to play as a little crow in a forest just for a awhile.

We managed to produce a playable product that consisted of an environment, two NPCs, interactions, animations and quests. There were various bugs we discovered during testing but most importantly we discovered just how important control description is. Many of our controls were a little all over the place so not giving the player instructions made it difficult for them to enjoy the game. Aside from that so many people enjoyed our game and we got invaluable feedback to improve our game.

 What to expect

As we move into a new semester, over the next 16 weeks you can expect weekly updates of Crow Get including what we worked on and any issues we’ve encountered. We will be including some screenshots and work in progress sections of the game as we get prepared for Perth Games Festival at the end of Week 7.
